| TV Channels | |
| The TV takes several seconds to respond to channel changes. | It is normal for digital channels to take longer to tune in. Press ENTER after entering a channel number to avoid delays. Use a 4-digit number for over-the-air digital channels or a 6-digit number for digital cable channels. Use number keys instead of CHANNEL Up/Down. Be sure the channel is in memory. Check the ACTIVITY key. Ensure Lock > Parent menu lock is Off. Tune to the physical channel number if virtual channels are not memorized. Analog channels may no longer be broadcasting. |
| You cannot access a channel. | Press INFO to update highlighted channel information. Program information is only for the currently tuned channel. Data is sent by broadcaster or cable provider. Ensure TV clock is set correctly. |
| When ChannelView list is displayed, information appears incomplete. | |
| TV Power On/Off | |
| TV takes an excessively long time to power on. | TV needs time to boot up; lamp requires time to heat up. |
| You cannot program the TV to turn on automatically (Timer function). | TV may be locked. Clock may not be set. |
| TV turned itself off and the light on the front panel started to blink. | Momentary power fluctuation. Wait for green light to stop flashing and turn TV on. If it doesn't stay on, perform System Reset. Consider an AC line power conditioner/surge protector. Unusual digital signal may trigger protection. |
| TV will not power off. | Press and hold POWER on the control panel for ten seconds to perform System Reset. |
| Picture | |
| Picture does not look like a high-definition picture. | Not all signals are high-definition. Subscribe to HD service from provider. Use a quality antenna for over-the-air broadcasts. |
| TV has sound but no picture. | Check video inputs are firmly plugged in. Perform System Reset. |
| Picture has become dimmer. | Lamp nearing end of life; order new lamp. Adjust brightness/contrast. Change Lamp Energy from Standard to Bright. |
| There is a large black or gray rectangle on the screen. | Analog closed captioning set to "text" mode; turn off as no text is broadcast. Check VCR owner's guide. |
| You cannot view a picture when playing a VHS tape. | Stop playback. On-screen menus may jitter due to half-resolution. Turn off video mute for VCR. Play tape. Change VCR input. |
| VCR or DVD player's on-screen menus jitter up and down. | |
| When viewing a stopped VCR, white lines are rolling on the screen. | |
| A color program appears as a black and white image, or the colors are dim, or the screen is black. | PerfectColor balance reset needed. |
| Picture from an HDMI input is noisy (poor quality). | Upgrade to a Category 2 high-speed HDMI cable. |
| The image from a computer appears distorted when viewed on the TV. | Normal TV operation; distortion is not corrected to avoid image cropping. Adjust aspect ratio. |
| Sound | |
| There is no sound even when the volume is turned up. | Check MUTE. Check "Listen to:" setting (SAP). Check Speakers option (TV, AV Receiver, Headphones). Perform System Reset. |
| The sound does not match the screen picture. | Check "Listen to:" setting (SAP). |
| The sound from my A/V receiver does not match the screen picture (I should hear the correct audio from my A/V receiver). | Check DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT and/or AVR AUDIO OUTPUT connections to A/V receiver. NetCommand may be selecting the wrong input; check NetCommand setup. |
| Cannot select an audio-only device; it does not appear in the Activity menu. | Plug unused video plug into Y/VIDEO jack to activate Auto Input Sensing. |
| Sound is coming from the TV speakers instead of the A/V receiver. | Disconnect headphones. Connect TV's AUDIO OUT to A/V receiver and select AV Receiver. |
| NetCommand IR Control (NetCommand-equipped models only) | |
| Cannot see the menu from the A/V Receiver. | A/V Receiver setup for Audio-Only Switching. Ensure connection to video input. NetCommand may need to select A/V Receiver input. A/V Receiver setup for Audio and Video Switching over HDMI. A/V Receiver with HDMI Control (switch to AUDIO mode). |
| NetCommand unable to learn specific device keys. | Device does not use IR format. Lighting may affect learning. Ensure remotes are close. Check Mitsubishi remote mode. Not all functions may be learned. Battery strength. |
| The A/V receiver is the selected audio source but there is no sound. | Check A/V Receiver power. Redisplay Activity menu and press ENTER. Incorrect setup in Inputs > AVR menu. |
| There is no sound from the A/V receiver for my DVD player or other surround sound device even though I learned the IR code for the A/V receiver's DVD input or other input. (A/V Receiver Set Up for Audio-Only Switching) | Check A/V Receiver power. Verify TV AUDIO OUTPUT connection. A/V receiver not switching properly because IR codes for inputs were not learned. |
| There is no sound or picture from the A/V receiver for my DVD player or other device connected to the A/V receiver; the A/V receiver should be sending video to the TV over an HDMI cable. (A/V Receiver Set Up for Audio and Video Switching over HDMI) | NetCommand setup for DVD player or digital surround sound device not switching properly. See "Case 2" and perform setup. See "Case 3" and perform setup. |
| I've selected my DVD player or other surround sound device in combination with the TV speakers but hear no sound from the TV speakers. | A/V Receiver Set Up for Audio-Only Switching: Requires audio connection from device to TV. Connect audio outputs to TV input. Select AV Receiver or TV for speakers. A/V Receiver Set Up for Audio and Video Switching over HDMI: Video may be restricted due to HDMI signal copy protection. |
| I "learned” the RECORD key for my VCR/DVR but when I pressed the RECORD key, the VCR/DVR did not record anything. | Check VCR/DVR signal is direct from cable box or satellite receiver. |
