Basic Setup and Operation

Package Contents: Unpack and verify all items, including remote control, batteries, and manuals.

Remote Control Batteries: Install AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

Before You Begin: Review safety and installation notes, choose a location with adequate ventilation, and see stand requirements.

First-Time Power-On: Confirm TV mode on the remote, press POWER, and follow the welcome screen prompts. Language can be changed to Español.

TV Controls

Remote Control: Familiarize yourself with buttons for TV activity, menu navigation, input selection, and device control. Special buttons include ACTIVITY, MENU, INFO, BACK, MUTE, VOLUME, CHANNEL, LAST, MORE, and CANCEL.

Control Panel: Buttons on the TV duplicate remote functions. Refer to upper labels for normal operation and lower labels for menu-specific functions.

Status Light: Indicates TV power status (Off, On, Timer set, Cooling, Too hot, Lamp access, Lamp failure, Service required).

TV Channels
The TV takes several seconds to respond to channel changes.It is normal for digital channels to take longer to tune in. Press ENTER after entering a channel number to avoid delays. Use a 4-digit number for over-the-air digital channels or a 6-digit number for digital cable channels. Use number keys instead of CHANNEL Up/Down. Be sure the channel is in memory. Check the ACTIVITY key. Ensure Lock > Parent menu lock is Off. Tune to the physical channel number if virtual channels are not memorized. Analog channels may no longer be broadcasting.
You cannot access a channel.Press INFO to update highlighted channel information. Program information is only for the currently tuned channel. Data is sent by broadcaster or cable provider. Ensure TV clock is set correctly.
When ChannelView list is displayed, information appears incomplete.
TV Power On/Off
TV takes an excessively long time to power on.TV needs time to boot up; lamp requires time to heat up.
You cannot program the TV to turn on automatically (Timer function).TV may be locked. Clock may not be set.
TV turned itself off and the light on the front panel started to blink.Momentary power fluctuation. Wait for green light to stop flashing and turn TV on. If it doesn't stay on, perform System Reset. Consider an AC line power conditioner/surge protector. Unusual digital signal may trigger protection.
TV will not power off.Press and hold POWER on the control panel for ten seconds to perform System Reset.
Picture
Picture does not look like a high-definition picture.Not all signals are high-definition. Subscribe to HD service from provider. Use a quality antenna for over-the-air broadcasts.
TV has sound but no picture.Check video inputs are firmly plugged in. Perform System Reset.
Picture has become dimmer.Lamp nearing end of life; order new lamp. Adjust brightness/contrast. Change Lamp Energy from Standard to Bright.
There is a large black or gray rectangle on the screen.Analog closed captioning set to "text" mode; turn off as no text is broadcast. Check VCR owner's guide.
You cannot view a picture when playing a VHS tape.Stop playback. On-screen menus may jitter due to half-resolution. Turn off video mute for VCR. Play tape. Change VCR input.
VCR or DVD player's on-screen menus jitter up and down.
When viewing a stopped VCR, white lines are rolling on the screen.
A color program appears as a black and white image, or the colors are dim, or the screen is black.PerfectColor balance reset needed.
Picture from an HDMI input is noisy (poor quality).Upgrade to a Category 2 high-speed HDMI cable.
The image from a computer appears distorted when viewed on the TV.Normal TV operation; distortion is not corrected to avoid image cropping. Adjust aspect ratio.
Sound
There is no sound even when the volume is turned up.Check MUTE. Check "Listen to:" setting (SAP). Check Speakers option (TV, AV Receiver, Headphones). Perform System Reset.
The sound does not match the screen picture.Check "Listen to:" setting (SAP).
The sound from my A/V receiver does not match the screen picture (I should hear the correct audio from my A/V receiver).Check DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT and/or AVR AUDIO OUTPUT connections to A/V receiver. NetCommand may be selecting the wrong input; check NetCommand setup.
Cannot select an audio-only device; it does not appear in the Activity menu.Plug unused video plug into Y/VIDEO jack to activate Auto Input Sensing.
Sound is coming from the TV speakers instead of the A/V receiver.Disconnect headphones. Connect TV's AUDIO OUT to A/V receiver and select AV Receiver.
NetCommand IR Control (NetCommand-equipped models only)
Cannot see the menu from the A/V Receiver.A/V Receiver setup for Audio-Only Switching. Ensure connection to video input. NetCommand may need to select A/V Receiver input. A/V Receiver setup for Audio and Video Switching over HDMI. A/V Receiver with HDMI Control (switch to AUDIO mode).

The A/V receiver is the selected audio source but there is no sound.Check A/V Receiver power. Redisplay Activity menu and press ENTER. Incorrect setup in Inputs > AVR menu.
There is no sound from the A/V receiver for my DVD player or other surround sound device even though I learned the IR code for the A/V receiver's DVD input or other input. (A/V Receiver Set Up for Audio-Only Switching)Check A/V Receiver power. Verify TV AUDIO OUTPUT connection. A/V receiver not switching properly because IR codes for inputs were not learned.
There is no sound or picture from the A/V receiver for my DVD player or other device connected to the A/V receiver; the A/V receiver should be sending video to the TV over an HDMI cable. I "learned” the RECORD key for my VCR/DVR but when I pressed the RECORD key, the VCR/DVR did not record anything.Check VCR/DVR signal is direct from cable box or satellite receiver.
